Miss SA Lalela Mswane to Fly SA Flag in Poland this July

South Africa (27 June 2022) – Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane has packed her bags and her South African flag and set off to Poland in the hopes of winning the title of Miss Supranational 2022.

25-year-old Mswane was born in Richards Bay, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Her father, Muntu Mswane, was an Eswatini-born former diplomat and minister who died in 2010, while her mother, Hleliselwe, worked as an accounts clerk and homemaker. She is the youngest of three children, having an elder brother and sister. After completing her secondary education at Pro Arte Alphen Park in 2015, Mswane enrolled in the University of Pretoria, later graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree.

Since winning her title, Mswane has also competed on the Miss Universe stage. The next competition during her reign is the Miss Supranational which is being hosted in Poland this year.

Miss Supranational was established in 2009 and has become a highlight on the pageant calendar. Last year was the first time South Africa took part in the event. Thato Mosehle earned second place in the event, with neighbouring Namibia’s Chanique Rabe earning the crown.

The pageant is set to start on the 15th of July 2022. Mswane has already set off for the country, participating in a few events as part of her duties in representing South Africa.

“And so the journey begins….

This moment is a culmination of so much hard work, the support of the Miss South Africa organization, my loved ones prayers and your love South Africa. Thank you so much for all the votes messages, comments, reposts and shares, I see and feel the love.”

Mswane recently met with the Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi, the Ambassador of South Africa to Poland NJ Mngomezulu, Mpumalanga’s MEC Mr Mashilo and Western Cape’s MEC for Infrastructure, Mr Tertius Simmers, in Katowice, Poland.

“To fly half way around the world and be welcomed by the smiling faces of my fellow countrymen is something I will hold in my heart as I continue on this journey.”

After the Miss Supranational pageant ends, Mswane heads home and starts to wind down her Miss South Africa reign, as the new Miss South Africa will be announced on the 13th of August 2022. You can meet the top 10 ladies here. Other pageants to look forward to are Miss Universe and Miss World. The dates have not yet been announced, but Miss South Africa 2021 runners-up Moratwe Masima and Zimi Mabunzi will represent South Africa in those pageants.
