Eastern Cape Tolashe elected ANCWL President.

Eastern Cape Sisisi Tolashe is the newly elected President of the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL). She currently holds the position of Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities.

The results were announced on Sunday evening at the Nasrec expo centre, where the women’s league has been holding its elective conference after years of not having an elected leadership.

Tolashe received 1729 votes, compared to Mchunu’s 1038 and Dlamini’s 170 votes.

Tolashe had been the front-runner of the race, garnering well over 1,000 nominations from ANCWL branches.

Lungi Gcabashe has been elected as the Deputy President of the ANCWL.

The other elected officials of the ANCWL are:

Secretary-General: Nokuthula Nqaba
Deputy Secretary-General: Dina Pule
Treasurer-General: Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae
The ANC Women’s League elective conference took place at the Nasrec Expo Centre, located south of Johannesburg.

Over 3,000 delegates participated in the conference and voted for their preferred candidates.

During the conference, three candidates accepted nominations for the post of president: Sisisi Tolashe, ANC MP Thembeka Mchunu, and the league’s former president, Bathabile Dlamini.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to close the conference, indicating his presence and involvement in the event.
