It ’s simply awe-inspiring- Berlin November 2018

The stage is set for the country’s biggest traditional horse-racing event and it promises to be a day to remember.

More than 30 000 people are expected to grace the fifth instalment of the Berlin November traditional horse-race set to be staged in Berlin on Saturday.

Berlin November organiser Marara Smondile, who deals with the operations and entertainment, said people can expect only the finest entertainment on the day.

Smondile said over a hundred artists, including 52 locally based musicians, were set to perform at the glamorous event and they expected media from as far as Johannesburg to also cover the event.

That includes South Africa’s hottest celebrity lifestyle magazine show – Real Goboza – that will also be covering the event.

“There’ squite a lot of interesting dimensions between the two because there’s a collaboration of national artists and the local artists.

“Which is why you’ll get to see Zahara, Mobi Dixon, who are all from the Eastern Cape, and all  these other talented acts.

“ It ’s a very interesting and diverse lineup we have for the event. “We have some of the biggest artists in the country such as Dr Malinga, Zahara, Ntando, 047, Brian Themba, and Ralf Gum, Welo, Bloomzit Avenue, the list goes on,” said Smondile.

He said this year’s event theme was based on the box office blockbuster movie, Black Panther that made headlines earlier this year as some of the scenes were done in IsiXhosa.

“Wakanda [Black Panther] is more of an inspiration, because it’s got different elements of our culture and everyone can do what they want to do.

“It ’s got African print so it fits all and everyone can play around with their outfits. “So every year we think of themes and we unpack them and people should come in their numbers and they should make sure that they have their tickets.

“We’ll also have a free public space … so this is a family event during the day and for the partygoers at night,” said Smondile.

He said the festivities would begin with the lavish gala dinner which is set to attract the country ’s A-listers – the Berlin November.

Wear SA Gala Dinner on Friday at the East London ICC. “People should get their tickets for all the events. The designers are already finished with their work that will be on show.

“The artists have already confirmed they will be performing on Saturday at the event, and their flights and accommodation have been booked.

“And with the infrastructure – we are positive that we’ll be 100% complete when the week concludes.

“Plus the tent at the venue is a lot more bigger than the one we had last year. “Because tickets have been on demand we had to create more space by making the venue a lot more bigger.

“There’s only a few tickets that are still available,” he added.

The event’s sponsors include MTN, Yekani Technologies, Eastern Cape Gambling Board
and Galaxy Bingo.
